Wedding Planning Tips

One of the most important parts of wedding planning is buying your dress on time. Often, we find brides don’t know how long it takes for your wedding dress to arrive after ordering, and the last thing you want is to be stressed about your dress in the weeks leading up to the wedding. If you’re starting to plan your wedding, we’re sharing a timeline you can expect when shopping.

After You Get Engaged

Once you’ve said “yes,” you get to start planning the wedding! The dress should definitely be one of the major things you take care of early on, but we recommend having a few things planned before shopping—namely, the venue and date! Having your venue and date set gives you a better idea of what your wedding day will look like, so you’ll know the season and setting. This is especially important if you know you’d get a different dress for different venue styles!

10-12 Months Out

While this may sound long, book your appointments to shop for your wedding dress 10-12 months out from your wedding date. Your wedding dress takes several months to construct. Your gown is a high-end, intensely high quality garment that is made to order for you, and the process does not happen overnight. From sourcing materials to sewing each piece, constructing the gown, and placing embellishments, your designer will need several months to create your dress once you order it.

After the Dress Arrives

Once the dress arrives, you’ll need alterations. Typically, the alterations process takes around 2 months, during which you will have 2-3 fittings to ensure your dress fits flawlessly. Alterations are an important part of the process, as it ensures everything fits seamlessly: this way, your hem hits exactly where it should with your shoes, and each piece of the gown is tailored precisely to your body.
